Angel Island State Park, Tiburon: launch details
Open-bay destination in the middle of San Francisco Bay, reachable only by boat. Land on a beach or pull up to the seawall and dinghy slips at Ayala Cove, which has restrooms, a visitor center, cafe, and bike rentals; a state park day-use fee applies. The hazards are serious: strong currents through Raccoon Strait and off China Cove, wind around Point Blunt, and heavy ferry, shipping, and motorboat traffic. Only experienced paddlers should make the crossing.
