Russian River Estuary (Jenner Visitor Center), Jenner: launch details
Small State Parks ramp beside the Jenner Visitor Center, on the Russian River estuary near the ocean. Parking is free; come early on busy weekends. Harbor seals haul out at the river mouth and pup March through August, so stay at least 50 yards from them. Keep well clear of the open mouth, where currents pull straight into the surf. A sandbar can close the mouth any time of year, backing the estuary up into a lake-like lagoon. Northwest wind is the one that reaches this water. WaterTreks rents kayaks at the launch; reserve ahead on busy weekends.
