Mono Lake (Navy Beach), Lee Vining: launch details
Carry in from Navy Beach on the south shore to paddle among Mono Lake's tufa towers. The Forest Service lists this launch as free; nearby South Tufa has separate fees. Strong winds can build suddenly, so stay near shore and check the forecast. Keep at least one mile from islands April 1-August 1 and 200 yards from osprey nests April 1-September 1. Do not touch or climb tufa. Bring drinking water; none is available at the launch. Dogs must be leashed.
