Big Bear Lake, Big Bear Lake: launch details
A mountain reservoir at about 6,750 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains. Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards launch from the two public ramps on the north shore: the east ramp near the Stanfield cutoff and Discovery Center, the west ramp near the dam. Launching is free but every vessel needs a Big Bear Municipal Water District lake-use permit and a quagga-mussel inspection. Winds pick up quickly at elevation, so mornings are calmest.
